The Opportunity:
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is seeking an APEX Business Consultant with government contracting experience to provide valuable consulting services and training to small businesses. As an APEX Business Consultant, you will play a key role in guiding businesses through the complexities of government contracting. This includes developing and leading seminars and webinars on topics such as understanding government contracting types, positioning a business for success in the government market, proposal development, and contract management. The Consultant will also provide direct consulting assistance to small businesses. A critical aspect of this role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts within the government contracting industry, including small business specialists and representatives from county and city governments.
This position requires regular travel within Central Florida (8 counties) to network offices, client sites, and community events. Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to achieve and maintain national government contracting certification.
Responsibilities:
Provides one-to-one business consulting on government contracting.
Develop and manage relationships with contacts in the government contracting industry including small business specialists as well as county and city government representatives.
Plan, develop, market, support, and present training programs.
Participate in area outreach activities to include but not be limited to speaking engagement and panel participation Represent the APEX at trade show events.
Achieve a specific professional development schedule each year based on the APEX agreements with the DoD and Florida SBDC.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant area of specialization.
Two years’ experience in government contracting and consulting.
Ability to obtain and maintain national government contracting certification.
