The Opportunity:
UCF IT within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a motivated Applications Systems Analyst I to join our team and help support the administrative and academic systems that power the university’s daily operations. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders, system owners, and technical teams to enhance system functionality, streamline business processes, and improve the overall user experience for the UCF community. The position contributes to key initiatives such as system upgrades, testing, data conversions, and ongoing application support, ensuring all changes align with institutional policies and strategic goals. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys analyzing workflows, partnering with diverse teams, and translating functional needs into effective technical solutions that make a meaningful impact across campus.
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Gathering
Meet with stakeholders to identify system and user requirements.
Develop functional requirement documentation, business process flows, and user-interface mock-ups.
Translate functional needs into clear technical specifications, estimates, and project plans.
Project Support & Documentation
Manage project deliverables and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Facilitate meetings to communicate progress, verify requirements, and ensure alignment across teams.
Support system upgrades, testing efforts, data conversion processes, and ongoing maintenance for assigned areas.
System Improvements & Quality Assurance
Review and analyze administrative and business processes to identify opportunities for re-engineering or automation.
Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and system owners to propose and implement improvements.
Test and verify system changes to ensure desired functionality and user satisfaction.
Issue Resolution & Technical Support
Investigate system errors, diagnose issues, document findings, and track resolutions.
Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting, escalating complex issues to vendors when necessary.
Ensure timely communication and follow-through on user issues and resolutions.
Coordinate with internal teams and university support resources to resolve technical challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, UI/UX Design, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
Coursework or certifications in business analysis, systems analysis, user-centered design, instructional design, or related disciplines.
Internship or entry-level experience in IT, business analysis, project support, system design, or related areas.
Familiarity with requirements analysis techniques such as interviews, workshops, and surveys.
Experience developing process flows, workflow diagrams, or user interface mock-ups using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Figma.
Exposure to user interface design principles and usability testing practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate business needs into technical requirements.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Experience performing software testing or quality assurance (QA) for applications or systems, including test planning, execution, and defect tracking.
Familiarity with enterprise administrative systems, such as student information, HR, or financial management platforms.
Strong data analysis and data validation skills, including experience reviewing, reconciling, and ensuring data accuracy.
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system or data-related issues.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $70,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
