Student Success and Well-Being – Career Services
Student Success and Well-Being Career Services provides comprehensive career services and programs to assist a variety of student population in developing and implementing career, education, and employment plans through collaborative internal partnerships with UCF administrators, faculty and staff, as well as effective external partnerships with key employers.
The Opportunity:
UCF’s Student Success and Well-Being Career Services Department is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director, Career Services. This role provides leadership, professional expertise, and direction in planning and executing career services events and functions. This position is responsible for coordinating major career expos, specialized events, career panels, conferences, receptions, and college-specific events, ensuring seamless execution and optimal engagement. The Assistant Director manages event logistics, supervises staff, and coordinates with the Associate Director to manage event budgets and ensure accurate financial tracking.
This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well Being or his/her designee.
Responsibilities:
Career Fair & Event Management:
Plan, coordinate, and assess large-scale career fairs, including Fall and Spring Expos.
Oversee logistics in Handshake and work with vendors on venues, catering, parking, and related services.
Manage registration, payments, and post-event reporting.
Special Event Coordination:
Lead or support planning for events like the Statewide Job Fair, CREOL Career Fair, ProConnect, and others.
Handle logistics, scheduling, and communication for each assigned event.
Partner with departments and stakeholders to ensure successful execution.
Data Management & Policy Administration:
Manage databases and compile data for internal and external reporting needs.
Create, interpret, and apply policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency across operations.
Financial Administration & Reporting:
Coordinate financial processes related to events, including purchase orders, deposits, and refunds.
Track revenue and expenditures and coordinate with the Associate Director to manage event budgets and ensure financial tracking.
Staff Supervision & Team Management:
Supervise the ER Coordinator and Graduate Assistant.
Provide guidance, assign tasks, and support team development to meet event and engagement goals.
Employer Engagement & Advisory Board:
Co-lead the Employer Advisory Board and cultivate employer relationships to enhance recruitment opportunities.
Communicate regularly with employer partners and collaborate with internal staff to align engagement strategies.
College & Faculty Outreach:
Deliver career-focused presentations in classrooms and represent Career Services in faculty partnerships.
Support outreach efforts to increase faculty involvement in career programs and events.
Employer Outreach & Recruitment:
Attend networking events, trade shows, and employer meetings to promote Career Services and recruit new employer partners.
Represent the department professionally and build relationships to expand employer engagement opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale events (e.g., career fairs, conferences) with a strong focus on logistics, vendor management, and participant experience.
Experience with budget management, while managing purchase orders, processing payments, and generating financial reports.
Previous experience within higher education or career services preferred.
