The Opportunity

The Assistant Director, Prospect Research plays a key leadership role within the Prospect Development (PD) team, supporting the strategic goals of UCF’s fundraising enterprise. Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research, this position is responsible for assisting in the management of research operations, supervising prospect research analysts, and producing a variety of research deliverables to support primarily major and principal gift fundraising.

Classification Title: Prospect Research Manager I

Responsibilities:

Presidential & Executive Briefings:

  • Support critical research projects by producing briefings and research deliverables for the Office of the President and Advancement & Partnerships executive team, helping inform high-level donor and prospect engagement strategies.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise Prospect Research Analyst(s), the Program Support Specialist, and part-time contract researchers. Monitor performance, develop goals, and guide the overall output and impact of the Research function within the Prospect Development team.

Research & Strategy:

  • Conduct and analyze detailed research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a variety of sources. Synthesize findings into concise, confidential profiles, relationship maps, and strategic briefing materials to support fundraising goals. Provides research insights to colleges and units across the University.

Data Management:

  • Enter and update critical constituent information in Blackbaud CRM, including capacity ratings, professional updates, deaths, criminal records, and news alerts. Conduct data integrity reviews and cleanup to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Prospect Identification:

  • Scan news sources, press releases, and public databases to identify potential new prospects and provide strategy intelligence. Share findings with front line fundraisers and ensure timely follow-up.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of related experience and 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education advancement or nonprofit fundraising environments.

  • Familiarity with fundraising databases and CRMs (e.g., Blackbaud CRM, Ellucian, Salesforce).

  • Proficiency in research platforms such as iWave, LexisNexis, ResearchPoint, WealthEngine, or DonorSearch.

  • Experience managing, mentoring, or coaching staff in a research or analytics setting.

Top candidates may also possess:

  • Strong writing, editing, and data analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce polished, strategic reports for executive-level stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • A collaborative, proactive approach to supporting cross-functional fundraising teams.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is $56,030 - $68,637. Advancement and Partnerships values the unique contributions that each team member brings to our division. The determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will vary based on several factors, including education and relevant experience. The anticipated pay scale indicated for this position generally applies to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and several of the preferred qualifications outlined above.
