The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) invites applications for a dedicated non-tenure earning assistant or associate professor of medicine and physician educator to join the Department of Medical Education. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an integrated medical curriculum that emphasizes the clinical relevance of foundational sciences.

We seek a clinically active generalist physician (e.g., Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) with a passion for teaching, curriculum development, and educational innovation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate versatility in teaching across a broad range of biomedical and clinical disciplines, including Health Systems Science. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the pre-clerkship years (M1-M2), with opportunities to contribute to the clinical years (M3-M4) as needed.

This position blends academic and clinical responsibilities, with approximately 40% effort devoted to clinical practice at the UCF Health Faculty Practice or a clinically affiliated site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, clinically integrated instruction in small group formats, such as teaching and facilitating team-based learning (TBL), case-based discussions, and clinical skills training.

  • Collaborate in the design, integration, and evaluation of curricular content.

  • Mentor and supervise medical students in both classroom and clinical settings.

  • Engage in scholarly activities and contribute to service within the college and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.

  • Board eligibility or certification in an ABMS-recognized specialty (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred).

  • Completion of ACGME-accredited residency training.

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Florida and DEA licensure.

  • Credentials that merit appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary teaching that integrates basic sciences with clinical application.

  • Proficiency with instructional technology and digital platforms.

  • Three or more years of post-training clinical experience.

  • Commitment to student-centered, active learning, and educational scholarship.

Additional Application Materials Required:

UCF requires all applications and supporting documents be submitted electronically through the Human Resources employment opportunities website, https://www.ucf.edu/jobs/. In addition to the online application, interested candidates should upload the following:

  • A curriculum vitae.

  • A letter of interest describing qualifications for the position, such as research agenda and teaching experience/interest.

NOTE: Please have all documents ready when applying so they can be attached at that time. Once the online submission process is finalized, the system does not allow applicants to submit additional documents later.

The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials.
