The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Performing Arts is seeking an extraordinary pianist/pedagogue/collaborative pianist to join its Music Program as a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor of piano. Instructional duties include applied lessons, piano ensemble, and piano literature. The successful candidate will be responsible for sustaining and expanding our keyboard program while maintaining an active presence in the community in both solo and collaborative performances. Primary consideration will be given to candidates with a strong background in teaching at the collegiate level as well as extensive experience as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. The anticipated start date is August 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in piano from an accredited institution and 5 years of progressive relevant professional experience.

  • 2 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.

  • A demonstrated record of excellence in piano performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DMA, DM, or PhD in Music with specialty in piano from an accredited institution.

  • 3 or more years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.   

  • A proven track record for recruiting talented piano students. 

  • Documented success of teaching in the discipline.    

  • An exceptional reputation as a performer at the national level.

  • An exceptional reputation as a collaborative pianist at the national level.

  • The ability to accompany faculty performers and collaborate with ensembles when appropriate.
