The Opportunity:
The Finance Business Center within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a highly qualified Budget Manager. This role is pivotal in delivering financial reports and analysis to support the strategic goals of UCF Facilities and Business Operations. The Budget Manager will provide exceptional customer service by offering data-driven, actionable insights to leadership while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, this role will develop a team of analysts and enhance business processes to drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis for an organizational portfolio, providing senior leadership with actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Lead the preparation of the annual budget and develop long-term financial plans to align with strategic goals and ensure financial sustainability.
Manage daily budget and accounting functions, ensuring disciplined practices for high-quality, accurate financial reporting. Supervise the preparation of monthly general ledger reports and reconciliations, including clear and well-organized supporting workpapers.
Provide exceptional customer service to operational leadership by delivering timely and accurate financial insights.
Develop billing and cost recovery rates and prepare ad hoc analyses and reports as required.
Serve as a subject matter expert on data, contributing to the design and automation of financial reports and dashboards.
Lead the development of workflows and business processes. Evaluate, prioritize, and implement process improvements.
Oversee the performance of the financial analyst team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement through training, growth opportunities, and team development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
7 years of experience in budgeting or financial management within a large, decentralized organization or similar setting.
3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with a demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team of financial analysts.
Strong knowledge of financial systems, budgeting software, and financial modeling tools (e.g., Excel, PeopleSoft, Workday, Adaptive Planning, or similar platforms).
CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
Proven experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting within a complex organizational structure.
Experience designing dashboards, financial reports, and other performance metrics for executive-level decision-making.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and actionable manner to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies.
Demonstrated experience developing and mentoring team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement and prepare them for career advancement opportunities.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated starting salary for a well-qualified candidate is $84,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
This position requires regular in-office attendance, with the possibility of some remote work flexibility based on supervisor approval and business needs.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
