UCF utilizes OPS (Other Personal Services), or Temporary, positions to recruit diverse, qualified candidates to place into a wide variety of temporary positions throughout the university. These administrative roles can vary in length lasting up to one year.

The Opportunity:
Each temporary Computer Support assignment can vary in length lasting from a few days to one year of service. They can be part-time or full-time and require varying skill sets ranging from entry-level to advanced expertise. The needs of our business partners vary, and employees of diverse skills are needed for different assignments. Skills sets for these roles may be similar to the skill levels of position titles such as:

  • Computer Desktop/Laptop Support
  • Classroom/Meeting Room A/V Support
  • Inventory/Surplus
  • Event Support
  • Customer Support
  • IT Helpdesk
  • Technical Support
  • Field Engineer
  • IT Client Support

Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup, troubleshooting, and installation of laptops, desktops, workstations, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Perform refreshes of existing computers and laptops.
  • Use electronic and networking testing equipment to diagnose computer equipment problems.
  • Provide client education on how to use equipment, software, and university systems.
  • Assist with client deployment and management tasks.
  • Assist in creating knowledge base articles to document solutions, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist with other related tasks as assigned.
  • Upgrade, install, diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware, including desktops, laptops, workstations, peripherals, and accessories.
  • Install the software and operating systems.
  • Use electronic and networking testing equipment to diagnose computer equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoot network issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

 High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic computer connections.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Outlook; ability to train on and learn new computerized systems.
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to handle multiple assignments with critical deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and outside guests of the University.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
  • Solution-oriented/problem-solving ability.
  • Academic and higher education knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with Ticket Systems such as ServiceNow. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Workday, or PeopleSoft is a plus.
