The Opportunity:

he Contracts Officer I supports the university's research mission by coordinating the intake, drafting, review, and administrative management of research agreements throughout the contract lifecycle. Serving as a key partner to investigators and research administrators, this role helps ensure agreements are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with institutional policies. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to responsive, high-quality service in a collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the intake, assessment, and routing of incoming contracts, ensuring accurate triage and timely movement through the workflow.

  • Create and maintain agreement records in the Huron Research Suite, ensuring all required documents, data elements, and supporting information are complete for new agreements and modifications to existing agreements.

  • Process finalized agreements, including proper outtake procedures and providing appropriate notification to the award management team.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investigators and for college and departmental research administrators regarding contract-related administrative support, guidance, and status updates.

  • Gradually assume responsibilities related to administrative support for contract negotiations as experience and proficiency with core contract processes grow.

  • Work independently with accuracy, efficiency, and strong follow‑through, completing assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Deliver high-quality customer service to investigators, research staff, and campus partners, ensuring positive and professional interactions.

  • Support special projects and initiatives that enhance contract operations, process improvements, or research administration activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the research contracting function and overall departmental goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with basic data analysis.

  • Experience in research administration, including drafting and reviewing research-related contracts and agreements.

  • Experience using Huron Research Suite or other contract management systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive, professional, and customer-focused approach to work.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.

  • Knowledge of and experience with University of Central Florida (UCF) policies and procedures.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $56,030 to $62,334. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
