The Opportunity:
The Donaldson-Hanna lab has an opening for a Visiting Laboratory Coordinator II. This position will develop, build and test bespoke vacuum environment chamber including comparing results to other experimental set-ups. This position will oversee and manage the Donaldson-Hanna lab operations including laboratory equipment and website.
This is a visiting and renewable position. Visiting positions are based on circumstances, such as funding sources, which control the length of time for which the position is available. Position will be renewable up to a period of four years.
Responsibilities:
Continue the development of a bespoke vacuum environment chamber in the Donaldson Hanna lab by building software and electrical components.
Run experiments to test individual components of the bespoke vacuum environment chamber to ensure it is working as it should.
Advise/oversee undergraduate students working on the vacuum environment chamber project.
Compare experimental results from vacuum environment chamber to others to confirm the experiment is working as it should.
Oversee and manage all laboratory equipment in the Donaldson Hanna Lab (PSB455) including identifying parts that need to be replaced and getting quotes for purchases to be made. This includes maintaining the calendars and standard operating procedures for each piece of equipment and making them available to the research group.
Building the Donaldson Hanna Lab website and keeping it up to date.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in MATLAB and Python programming.
Experience in designing, developing, building and testing electronics, particularly for heater and vacuum equipment.
Experience in working with and operating vacuum systems.
Experience in working with and operating FTIR spectrometers.
Experience with developing and creating websites.
Experience in leading/overseeing undergraduate students.
