The Opportunity
The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Community Innovation and Education is seeking applications for a non-tenure earning Lecturer in Integrative General Studies within the Interdisciplinary Studies program. The anticipated start date of the position is August 2026. This is a nine-month position with an expected teaching load of eight courses per academic year, with the possibility of optional summer teaching.
The primary responsibility of this position is teaching regularly offered undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary and Integrative General Studies, including Cornerstone, Research, Contemporary Issues in Leadership and Senior Seminar. The lecturer will also provide appropriate service for the university and program.
Job responsibilities:
Teach a 4/4 course load during the Fall and Spring semesters in Interdisciplinary Studies and Integrative General Studies, including courses such as Cornerstone, Research, Contemporary Issues in Leadership, and Senior Seminar.
Design and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with course learning outcomes; assess student learning fairly and promptly; maintain up-to-date records and communications through the Canvas LMS.
Ensure syllabi that meet university standards and maintain curricular rigor through appropriate assessments, instructional materials, and grading practices.
Maintain availability for students through regular office hours and timely, professional communication.
Participate in curriculum development, assessment reporting, and other academic initiatives at the program level as needed.
Provide service to the university and program, including participation in relevant committees, departmental meetings, and student-supportive events or activities.
Maintain disciplinary currency and demonstrate scholarly engagement through professional development, participation in academic communities, engagement at relevant conferences, or other scholarly or creative activities such as publications or presentations.
Uphold collegiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all university-related duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in interdisciplinary studies, liberal studies, or related fields from an accredited institution.
Potential for research production in General Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely correlated disciplines.
Ability to teach leadership, integrative/interdisciplinary studies, research methods, and senior capstone courses.
Potential for teaching excellence at the post-secondary level.
Ability to engage in both in-person and online instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Documented teaching experience in General Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, or closely correlated disciplines.
Evidence of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level.
Experience and evidence of teaching excellence with online instruction.
Evidence of currency in one's field, including engagement in scholarship that applies integrative, multidisciplinary, or interdisciplinary research frameworks.
Strong record of professional engagement and service, such as contributions to committees, program development, community partnerships, or leadership in academic initiatives.
Evidence of effectively supporting students with varied backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs.
