DeVos Sports Business Management:

The DeVos program offers students the opportunity to earn both their Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s in Sport Business Management (MSBM) while gaining valuable work experience in the sport business industry. We also offer a Minor in Sport Business Management for undergraduate students. With coursework that focuses on leadership, innovation, finance, international business, strategic management, accounting and marketing, the DeVos program attracts the brightest and most committed students from around the world.

The Opportunity:

Director, Partnerships & External Affairs serves as the liaison between the DeVos SBM program and its external partners. Responsible for the design, management and implementation of numerous events, activities and academic programs in support of the program. Manages, develops, and executes programs and events that cultivate key constituent groups for the DeVos Sport Business Management program.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the administrative operations of the DeVos Sport Business Management (SBM) master’s and undergraduate programs, including facilities, contracts, non-academic personnel and human resources, and financial management. Collaborate in the development and coordination of the program's operating budget planning and processes. Manage a graduate assistant.

  • Coordinate DeVos master’s degree students on internships and job placement. Manage the mentorship program. Partner with corporations and colleges to create client-based marketing opportunities for student project teams.

  • Organize strategic events to grow student engagement and program awareness, including the annual industry trip, DeVos Distinguished Speaker Series, graduation weekend, alumni tailgate, orientation week, and other alumni and student events.

  • Strategically identify opportunities for development and partnerships that support the DeVos SBM program and the UCF College of Business Administration. Manage external participation and sponsorship commitments to ensure alignment with the DeVos program’s mission.

  • Engage the DeVos SBM National Advisory Board (NAB), including hosting in-person and virtual meetings, providing quarterly updates, and facilitating NAB member involvement. Act as the liaison to the DeVos SBM National Advisory Board and alumni.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the program’s long-term strategic visibility plan and all public relations efforts. Manage the program’s website, publications, social media, and internal communications. Build awareness and serve as a spokesperson for the program, crafting and executing marketing plans to communicate its mission, vision, and values to the sport and entertainment community.

  • Manage and provide donor support for the DeVos Family Foundation and the Orlando Magic. Create and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships that generate commitments of time, talent, and treasure to further the program’s mission and goals.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in administrative leadership within a higher education institution or a sport.

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field.

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible administrative leadership experience in higher education or sport business organizations, demonstrating success in managing complex operations, program administration, event management, and partnership development. Demonstrated success in developing, maintaining, and enhancing partnerships with corporate, community, alumni, and industry stakeholders.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and assessing programs, events, or initiatives that engage various external audiences and advance strategic goals.

  • Proven ability to coordinate experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, mentorships, or industry collaborations, for students.

  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate a clear vision, deliver compelling presentations to varied audiences, motivate stakeholders, and build productive relationships across internal and external constituencies.

  • Strong understanding of emerging trends and best practices in sport business, sponsorship, and partnership engagement, complemented by hands-on experience in donor relations, sponsorship development, and external partnerships.

  • Proven commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment that advances student success in alignment with the university’s mission.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proven financial acumen, including fiscal oversight, and strategic resource allocation to support programmatic goals.

 The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,076- $100,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
