The Opportunity:
Join our Planning, Design, and Construction team within Facilities and Business Operations as a Project Manager II, Interior Designer. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing both design and construction efforts to ensure the successful completion of minor and major projects, aligning with the schedule, program, and budget, as well as the institutional strategy of UCF. As the move coordinator for the university, you will plan, direct, and manage activities related to the design and construction of structures, facilities, and systems. This position involves leading the development of design and construction projects, managing their organization, scheduling, and implementation, and representing section leadership when needed. Additionally, you will establish interior finish palettes for renovation projects and maintain an interior finish library.
Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of projects, including contractors, architects, and engineers, ensuring compliance with the Project Manager Manual.
Support sustainability efforts in construction and renovation projects.
Address design deficiencies and monitor resolutions.
Review scopes, construction documents, and ensure adherence to codes and regulations.
Develop budget estimates, cost-tracking reports, and identify financial issues.
Review and negotiate change orders and service proposals.
Oversee payment processes for designers and contractors.
Manage design, pre-construction, construction, and project close-out phases.
Keep team members and stakeholders informed and involved.
Develop project estimates and test fits for renovations; coordinate with third-party planners as needed.
Maintain finish palettes and a finish library; ensure UCF standards and coordinate furniture selection.
Plan and manage departmental moves, including furniture and equipment logistics.
Participate in art acquisition and installation; create and review signage designs.
Mentor and train Project Manager I team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
5+ years of experience managing complex design and construction projects in a higher education or large institutional setting.
Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Interior Designer (CID), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar credentials.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., e-Builder, Microsoft Project, Procore) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit).
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and certifications (e.g., LEED).
Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior project managers or team members.
Advanced skills in budget management, cost estimation, and financial analysis.
Experience with space planning, test fits, and coordinating with third-party planners.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiations.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $88,713. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
