The Opportunity:
The Risk Management Specialist I is responsible for assisting the Manager, Risk Management in all areas of the University risk management program to include, the administration of insurance policies and claims, event safety risk assessments, interfacing with broker and University departments and colleges, and providing support for managing the budget and processing insurance payments.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the management of the university insurance program to include comprehensive and technical review of insurance documents, maintenance of insurance schedules, insurance application input collection, insurance schedule additions and deletions, and regular and timely reporting for insurance policies.
Conducts event safety risk assessments for potentially hazardous events (i.e. SAFE Forms); review focused on ensuring certificates of insurance, event waivers, and alcohol acknowledgment documentation is complete prior to events along with escalation of event review when required.
Provides support for the Risk Management Information System including uploading information, data entry, information verification, and report generation.
Provides budget management support by facilitating the payment processing of insurance premiums as well as deposit of any refunds or claim settlement checks.
Assists with Office of Enterprise Risk and Insurance website updates.
Aids with management of university volunteer program by managing associated volunteer registration technology system, creation of volunteer service agreement templates, pulling reports and conducting research when needed.
Provides support, education, and training to the university community regarding risk management topics and maintains risk training tracking and updates.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Excel User.
Experience with event review system in a higher education setting.
Familiarity with processing Certificates of Insurance.
Experience with Origami Risk software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A minimum of six months experience working in insurance, risk management, or legal office.
