Military and Student Success:
The Office of Military and Veteran Student Success, a unit within the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is dedicated to providing student veterans and military-connected students with an enriching and inclusive environment. The office works with university and community partners to provide a student experience that allows student veterans and military-connected students to achieve educational and career goals through academic success and community partnerships.
The Opportunity:
The Student Resource Specialist II performs, oversees, and/or manages office activities to include developing curriculum and materials for participants in an off-campus program. Functions may include high level administrative support, program planning or development, fiscal, and human resource processes.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of 14-18 student veterans and approximately 25 elementary aged children. Creates and implements the daily training calendar. Develops the academic framework for elementary children to increase their academic outcomes.
Responsible for the daily operation of the mentorship program to include training for mentors and mentees. Provides direction to others to ensure procedures and standards are upheld. Responsible for implementing the recruiting plan. Develops and implements administrative standards, policies, and procedures.
Maintains record keeping for student veterans to ensure program agreements and requirements are being maintained. Responsible for ensuring student veterans have met all training requirements to participate in the Soldiers to Scholars Program.
Liaison with Eagle Nest Elementary School to provide continuous feedback and improvement to the Walking School Bus program
Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with elementary students.
