The Opportunity:
The UCF IT department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire three (3) Technology Adoption Specialists. This role is responsible for helping the UCF community—students, faculty, and staff—get the most out of the university’s technology resources. The position provides hands-on support, consultation, and training for a wide range of enterprise systems and software. The goal is to empower users with practical knowledge and skills to use these tools effectively, including emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance teaching, research, and administrative work. This role focuses on building digital fluency, creating engaging learning experiences, and driving adoption of enterprise technologies to improve processes across campus.
Classification Title: IT Client Support Specialist IV
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one help in a “Genius Bar”-style setting—both in-person and online—to assist users with UCF-supported software and systems.
Develop expertise in tools like Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, Outlook, Power BI, Copilot), Adobe Acrobat/Creative Cloud, VPN, and other enterprise systems. Offer guidance on setup, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Promote the ethical and effective use of new technologies, including Generative AI, through consultations and outreach.
Document common issues and solutions and contribute tips and resources to a shared knowledge base.
Research and test new features to provide timely, relevant support as systems evolve.
Deliver live webinars, in-person workshops, and on-demand tutorials to help users build digital skills.
Develop quick-start guides, tip sheets, videos, and curated learning paths tailored to UCF needs.
Organize and promote themed sessions like “Tech Tip Tuesdays” or “Data 101 with Power BI” to encourage adoption.
Work with departments to design training that meets specific operational needs and supports major system rollouts.
Partner with IT teams to align training and communication with new tool deployments.
Ensure all training materials and sessions are inclusive and accessible.
Track engagement and adoption metrics to continuously improve training strategies.
Assist with additional projects that support technology adoption across campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Information Technology, Communications, Educational Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience providing technical support, training, or instructional design in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated expertise with a broad range of enterprise software, including Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Creative Cloud applications, and productivity/automation tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Platform.
Familiarity with Copilot for M365 and solid understanding of AI tools and concepts (e.g., Copilot or other large language models), with the ability to teach responsible and ethical use.
Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Excellent customer service orientation with well-developed interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Experience developing instructional materials, including job aids, instructional videos, and knowledge base content, as well as facilitating live and virtual training sessions.
Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG/Section 508, and familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Fundamentals/Associate, Adobe Certified Professional, or ITIL Foundation.
Experience in higher education environments, particularly in supporting faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated understanding of Organizational Change Management (OCM) principles.
Experience with video production and editing software used for creating online tutorials and training modules.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030 to $81,243. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
