The Opportunity:
The Utilities and Engineering Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a Senior Manager of Energy/Commissioning. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing energy-saving strategies and initiatives across the University. The position focuses on reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, and promoting environmental sustainability while ensuring that cost-effective solutions are supported by strong, verifiable ROI calculations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct energy audits, prepare conservation reports, and manage energy-saving programs.
Analyze energy data to identify improvement opportunities and ensure cost-effective solutions.
Collaborate with finance to allocate project funds and apply for energy-related grants/incentives.
Coordinate with facility managers to implement energy-efficient technologies and verify savings.
Advise on energy-efficient equipment procurement and promote sustainable energy policies.
Track and report progress on energy initiatives and project milestones.
Lead and guide the Energy Commissioning team to ensure successful project implementation.
Provide technical support, oversee system testing, and ensure accurate documentation.
Present technical reports and educational programs on energy conservation and cost savings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in energy management, commissioning, engineering, or a related field.
Proven leadership experience in managing teams and overseeing multiple energy projects concurrently.
Certification in energy, building, or commissioning (e.g., Certified Energy Manager [CEM], Certified Energy Auditor [CEA], Certified Building Commissioning Professional [CBCP], Certified Green Building Engineer [GBE], Certified Commissioning Agent) is highly preferred.
Expertise in energy data analysis, conducting audits, and developing energy conservation strategies.
Strong knowledge of energy-efficient technologies, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external contractors.
Experience in preparing technical reports, presentations, and educational materials related to energy initiatives.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to multiple stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline.

This is an Auxiliary funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,076 to $122,480. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
This position requires the completion of a Level II background check.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
