The Opportunity:
The Facilities and Business Operations department is seeking a Skilled Trades Trainer III to lead the design and delivery of comprehensive training and continuing education programs. Reporting to the Administrative Operations Manager, this role develops in-person, blended, and e-learning initiatives to enhance technical trade skills, personal effectiveness, operational learning, and leadership capabilities across all levels of the division.
Responsibilities:
Create and implement tailored training programs, including in-person, blended, and e-learning courses, to support facilities, maintenance, construction, utilities, engineering, and business operations teams.
Design and facilitate leadership programs to strengthen capabilities at all organizational levels.
Ensure training materials align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and university policies. Continuously improve content based on feedback and best practices.
Conduct engaging in-person and virtual workshops, providing coaching to reinforce learning and professional development.
Identify emerging trends, skills gaps, and workforce needs to create targeted training solutions, including a maintenance certification program to promote continuous learning.
Work with department heads, HR, and external training providers to customize learning solutions and expand professional development opportunities.
Oversee training records, track participation and outcomes, generate reports, and maintain a training calendar.
Ensure adherence to university policies and industry standards while conducting assessments to identify skill gaps and mitigate risks.
Act as a consultant to departments on training strategies and represent the division in university-wide training initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in workforce training, including program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Expertise in trade-specific technical training for facilities, maintenance, construction, or engineering.
Knowledge of compliance, safety training, certification programs, career progression frameworks, and succession planning.
Effective communication skills in English in order to: Work effectively with customers; Operate and demonstrate the functions of the electronic equipment; Utilize telecommunication devices. Bilingual ability is a plus to facilitate communication within various teams and effectively serve a broader range of clients.
Proficiency in e-learning development using Interplay Learning or a similar platform, as well as LMS management with analytics tracking.
Strong background in leadership development, coaching, and mentoring at all levels.
Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and varied learning styles.
Skilled in interactive and engaging training delivery across in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
Proven project management abilities, balancing multiple initiatives effectively.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills with stakeholders, vendors, and industry partners.
Master’s degree in Education, Workforce Development, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Certification in Instructional Design, Learning & Development (L&D), or Training Facilitation (e.g., CPTD, ATD) a plus.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $88,713. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
