The Opportunity:

UCF is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Business Data Analyst I to lead academic scheduling functions in the University Registrar’s Office. This role oversees the end-to-end scheduling process, manages a small team of scheduling professionals, and serves as the primary administrator for scheduling software systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of academic operations in a higher education environment. In addition, this role utilizes data reports and analysis to inform scheduling and space management decisions.

Responsibilities:

Academic Scheduling Oversight:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic scheduling processes.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, academic calendars, and space utilization standards.

  • Collaborate with academic departments and administrative units to optimize course offerings and classroom assignments.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor a small team responsible for academic scheduling operations.

  • Provide training, guidance, and performance management to support team success.

  • Foster a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.

System Administration:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Ad-Astra scheduling software system.

  • Manage system configurations, upgrades, and integrations with student information systems.

  • Troubleshoot issues and liaise with IT and vendors to ensure system reliability and performance.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze scheduling data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop dashboards and reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Present findings to leadership and stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.

Serve on seasonal cross-functional teams within the Registrar's Office including grading support, orientation support, commencement, and start of term triage.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of experience, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in academic scheduling and space management systems such as Ad Astra, EMS, or 25Live.

  • Experience utilizing student information systems, including platforms like PeopleSoft or Banner.

  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools for dashboard creation and data reporting.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve software issues, working collaboratively with IT support and vendor teams.

  • Proven success in leading teams within fast-paced, project-driven environments.

  • Experience in the implementation, management, and deployment of technology applications in an academic or administrative setting.
