The Opportunity:
The Advancement Services Specialist II supports the work of UCF’s Prospect Development team by assisting in the identification and research of prospective donors. Under the guidance of the Lead Associate Director, this role is ideal for an early-career professional interested in learning the ins and outs of philanthropy, prospect research, and data analysis in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
This position contributes to increasing university resources by supporting strategies that build meaningful donor relationships and advance the goals of annual, major, and principal gift fundraising.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the execution of prospect identification projects, including portfolio development, travel lists, and special prospect research projects.
Learn and use research databases and query tools to support donor data analysis and improve portfolio quality.
Support the implementation of database screening projects by learning to apply ratings and scores that prioritize donor pools based on giving potential.
Contribute to data integrity efforts by helping validate and update prospect records with new biographical and professional information.
Conduct preliminary research and begin drafting confidential prospect profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a variety of resources.
Support the team by responding to ad hoc and high-priority research requests and assisting with workflow management.
Maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism in handling donor data and confidential information.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Prospect Development team’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) or data entry platforms.
Basic experience with prospect research tools such as LexisNexis, iWave, WealthEngine, or similar resources.
Strong attention to detail and an interest in learning data validation or integrity processes.
Curiosity and eagerness to learn about philanthropy, nonprofit operations, and donor engagement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written communication and the ability to summarize complex data clearly.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Interest in pursuing a long-term career in prospect development, fundraising, data analytics, or nonprofit advancement.
