The Opportunity:
UCF's Office of Student Involvement (OSI) is hiring an Assistant Director to oversee a comprehensive campus life program. The core responsibility of this role is the direct management and oversight of major Student Government (SG) components, including the SG Senate, Judicial and Elections Commission, and all Caucuses. The position requires a leader to drive the initiation and implementation of co-curricular programs spanning student governance, leadership development, social activities, and community service. The goal is to maximize student success and well-being across the university.
This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.
Responsibilities:
Student Government & Governance Oversight:
Executive Advising and Management: Provide strategic advice, initiation, planning, and execution oversight for the Student Government (SG) Senate, Judicial and Elections Commission, and Caucuses.
Legislative Administration: Oversee all legislative proceedings, including reviewing, monitoring, and assembling Senate legislation and agendas, recording official minutes, managing voting records, and ensuring appropriate signature collection and database management for bills and resolutions.
Administrative and Web Management: Responsible for the complete administrative workflow, including preparing meeting materials and maintaining up-to-date content on the SG website.
Elections Management: Coordinate and manage the logistics and execution of the Student Government annual elections.
Student Leader Supervision & Development
Supervision and HR Administration: Manage recruitment, selection, on-boarding, and advising of approximately 20 OPS student employees and 75 volunteer student leaders across the SG agencies.
Payroll and Scheduling: Manage all student employee schedules and oversee payroll administration, including managing timesheets and expense reconciliation within Workday.
Comprehensive Training: Develop and execute a detailed training curriculum for student leaders covering essential topics such as event planning, leadership development, student involvement, and budget management
Fiscal Management & Contract Negotiation
Budget Oversight and Allocation: Directly manage and reconcile the SG Senate, Judicial, and Election Commissions' combined budgets (approximately $850,000).
Financial Processing: Oversee all financial transactions, including budget allocation, initiation of purchases, creation of requisitions/purchase orders, and expense reconciliation within Workday.
Vendor and Contract Management: Collaborate with internal/external vendors to negotiate and manage contracts on behalf of the Student Government agencies.
Campus-Wide Programming & Partnership
Major University Events: Support the Office of Student Involvement and the university in the planning and execution of major, campus-wide programs (e.g., Pegasus Palooza, Family Weekend, Homecoming/Spirit Splash, Knight-Thon, etc.).
Strategic Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key campus and local partners, including UCF Athletics, the Alumni Association, and local businesses, to support and enhance student programming services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Administration or a related field.
Demonstrated professional experience advising or managing student governance bodies (e.g., student senate, judicial boards, or election commissions) at a large, complex university setting.
Proven experience with managing significant budgets.
Demonstrated success in the planning, execution, and contract negotiation for major campus-wide programming or large annual traditions.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $48,722- $55,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
