The Opportunity:
UCF’s Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for an Athletic Training and Risk Management Coordinator I. This position is primarily responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Recreation and Wellness Center's Athletic Training Program and Risk Management efforts. Central to this role is providing on-site medical coverage as an athletic trainer during Intramural Sports and Sport Club activities. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation and working in partnership with a team of certified athletic trainers, this staff member will assist in providing evaluation and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, emergency care, and preventative care to student participants.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate athletic training services, duties, and medical coverage for the Recreation and Wellness Center, including but not limited to Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Athletic Training Clinic, general open recreation.
Provide medical services as on-site athletic trainer for scheduled afternoon, evening, and weekend programs.
Serve as an instructor and administrator for the American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification courses offered by the RWC.
Assist with tracking and maintaining records of employee certifications.
Serve on departmental, university and external committees to represent the RWC.
Serve as a liaison between university department and groups external to the University.
Assist in the marketing and assessment efforts for the Athletic Training Program.
Work closely with Student Government (SG) to meet the goals, objectives and expectations of one of their primary funded agencies.
Serve as a clinical instructor and preceptor in conjunction with UCF's academic Master's of Athletic Training Program.
Responsible for budget preparation and management for assigned areas.
Responsible to recommend purchasing of equipment and supplies and tracking athletic training and sports medicine equipment inventory.
Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures for the Recreation and Wellness Center including but not limited to Baseline Concussion Testing/Concussion Management Policies and Procedures, Emergency Action Plans, Injury/Accident Report management, Risk Management Audits and facility maintenance logs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess a Florida Department of Health Athletic Training License by start date.
Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer Approved.
Degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program.
Prior experience working as an athletic trainer in a recreational setting.
Special Instructions to the Applicant:
Applicant should have American Red Cross First Aid, AED and CPR Instructor Certification, or have the ability to become certified by UCF.
