The Center for Research in Education Simulation Technology at the University of Central Florida (CREST) is dedicated to providing simulation environments as a safe space for teacher practice. The TeachLive project, including its technologies and paradigms, resides under the CREST umbrella. TLE TeachLivE™ is a mixed-reality classroom with simulated students that provides teachers the opportunity to develop their pedagogical practice in a safe environment without placing real students at risk. The use of TLE TeachLivE™ Lab has also been instrumental in developing transition skills for students with significant disabilities, providing immediate feedback through bug-in-ear technology to pre-service teachers, and preparing teachers in the use of STEM-related instructional strategies.
The Opportunity:
The College of Community Innovation and Education Center for Research in Education Simulation Technology at the University of Central Florida is now accepting applications for a qualified CREST Simulation Interactor. This position will deliver high quality simulation sessions for UCF faculty, students, and external partners using the TeachLive platform. This role is a cutting edge educational and simulation performer position that bridges the gap between theory and practice for educators. The TeachLive service provides unique, impactful, and realistic educational experience in a safe practice space. TeachLive is invaluable for teachers and administrators to practice their craft in a safe yet challenging environment.
Responsibilities:
Puppeteering and voicing multiple characters to create the experience of a live classroom as well as other simulation contexts.
Managing all aspects of delivering scheduled simulation sessions.
Working with faculty partners to define simulation scenarios.
Calibrating TeachLive puppetry software.
Refining avatar character performance to target metrics of individual simulation sessions.
Documenting session evolution for team members who may also be delivering sessions in a series.
Troubleshooting technical issues with server or client systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years professional experience in a live performance role or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience with improvised performance.
Experience with digital puppetry performance.
Ability to perform 6 differentiated character voices and switch between them.
Be comfortable performing through technology.
Prefer candidate with the ability to communicate in both English and Spanish in order to work effectively with customers and team members.

Due to the nature of this work, a live audition will be part of the interview process.
