The Opportunity:
The Director of Development for the College of Medicine is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to attract major philanthropic support aligned with the college’s vision and UCF’s strategic goals. This position plays a key role in cultivating meaningful relationships with individuals, alumni, and organizations who are passionate about supporting medical education, research, and innovation.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Academic Health Sciences, the Director will build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and serve as a critical connector between donors and the impactful work happening at the College of Medicine.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement individual and programmatic fundraising strategies to secure major gifts in support of the College of Medicine’s priorities.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects independently, with an emphasis on individual donors.
Build and manage a portfolio of prospects, strategically advancing relationships through face-to-face meetings and tailored solicitations.
Develop compelling major gift proposals and recognize donor contributions in alignment with UCF’s mission and values.
Utilize strategic tools including contact reports, prospect research, and the Advance CRM database to track and manage donor engagement.
Uphold best practices in recordkeeping, donor relations, and volunteer engagement.
When applicable, help identify and recruit volunteers, board members, or committee members who reflect the strengths of the community.
Support budget planning and use resources effectively to engage key stakeholders including volunteers, faculty, prospects, and alumni.
Perform related duties as required to further the success of the college’s advancement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with or in support of academic medical centers, colleges of medicine, or complex healthcare systems.
Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, ideally in higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage donor portfolios with a focus on securing gifts of $50,000 and above.
Familiarity of fundraising systems such as Blackbaud CRM or similar donor databases.
Experience in developing and maintaining a philanthropic grateful patient program.
Successful track record in campaign fundraising.
The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage donors, alumni, faculty, and volunteers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting proposals and donor materials.
Knowledge of prospect research tools, stewardship strategies, and donor pipeline development.
Comfort navigating fast-paced, large, or complex work environments, with a flexible and adaptable mindset.
Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support donor engagement.

Advancement and Partnerships values the unique contributions that each team member brings to our division. The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is $75,809 - $104,238. The final determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will vary based on several factors, including education and relevant experience. The anticipated pay scale indicated for this position generally applies to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and several of the preferred qualifications outlined above.
