Laboratory Coordinator I (TEMP)

The Opportunity:

The Biology department within the UCF College of Sciences is currently accepting applications for a Laboratory Coordinator I.

Responsibilities:

This position is fully in person and requires either a Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday schedule, not to exceed 6 hours per week. The laboratory coordinator will be responsible for the care of live ant colonies: feeding, watering, cleaning and nest construction. Along with maintenance of insect food stocks, assistance with lab maintenance, washing dishes generated by lab postdocs and the PI, and occasional assistance with lab and field projects related to ant behavior and ecology.

This role requires work in hot and humid field conditions and includes the ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed BS in Biology, Environmental Science, or similar.
• Extensive experience caring for ant colonies in an academic, laboratory setting or working with ant colonies in the field.
• Ability to maintain a Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday schedule for consistent animal care - independent of the academic calendar.
