The Opportunity:

The UCF Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician III to join our team! Our team is dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of our sprawling, state of the art facilities, including the wellness center, pools, sports fields, and more. Every day is different in this role depending on sporting events and daily needs. This position supervises 7 technicians within the department.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of 6 Maintenance Technician I and 1 Maintenance Technician II employees. Includes hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating a team of 7 staff.

  • Working supervisor who will assist with any indoor and outdoor facility repairs and preventative maintenance. Systems include all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Includes the maintenance of vehicles, of the outdoor fields, fitness equipment, and 2 swimming pools.

  • Responsible for all facility inspections and follow up repairs conforms to governing codes and ADA in addition to reporting all documentation through Facility Operations (AiM).

  • Coordinate and meet with outside vendors for repairs.

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory.

  • Assist the Maintenance Superintendent in any specialty projects and repairs.

  • Serve as essential personnel for campus emergencies and closures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 4 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with any experience in the following areas:

  • Basic knowledge of building mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.

  • Familiarity reading building plans and schematics.

  • Knowledge of outside grounds and field painting.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of pools; willing to obtain Certified Pool Operator.

  • Certified First Aid/CPR/AED

Health Assessment Required:  

The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
