The Opportunity:
Join UCF IT as a Manager, Enterprise Infrastructure. The Infrastructure Security team at UCF is responsible for managing and securing the foundational services and technologies that power the university’s digital operations. We’re seeking a seasoned leader to step into the role of Manager, Enterprise Infrastructure, overseeing various portfolios that include cloud firewalls, load balancing, privileged access, and core telecommunications applications.
As the Manager, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for services such as DHCP, IPAM, PRTG monitoring, eFax, and Privileged Access Management (PAM). You will also provide strategic and operational oversight of load balancing infrastructure (F5), certificate management, and cloud firewall services, including Azure Firewall and VMware NSX. This position involves direct managerial oversight of systems engineering disciplines, including daily operations, project planning, and resource allocation. You will drive initiatives related to cloud security, network security, and the team’s effective use of ServiceNow for service delivery and other ITIL processes.
We’re seeking candidates with deep technical leadership in complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will stay current with cloud-native platforms and lead your team toward greater automation, standardization, and efficiency. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g. Python scripting, Terraform, Ansible) and version control best practices is desirable, as this position will mentor and drive the adoption of these practices. The ability to coach engineers, evolve workflows toward automated, reliably repeatable processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement will be critical for success.
Responsibilities:
Lead and support the daily activities of the infrastructure team, including performance reviews and managing individual training and development plans.
Oversee team operations related to cloud security technologies, such as Azure and NSX firewalls, F5 and Azure application gateways, and certificate management, ensuring alignment with business needs.
Manage team responsibilities for additional network and security tools, including IPAM, privileged access management, eFax, DHCP, NetFlow, PRTG, PerfSonar, and others to support infrastructure performance.
Collaborate with supervisors, architects, vendors, and internal teams to ensure reliable delivery of infrastructure services and security.
Assist in planning and resource tracking for infrastructure projects, working closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) to allocate and monitor staff and technical resources.
Use IT Service Management tools (ServiceNow) to manage team tasks—reviewing changes, tracking incidents and service requests, and resolving issues within established SLAs. Conduct root cause analyses for critical incidents and document solutions.
Ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures during the design, deployment, and maintenance of both private and public cloud infrastructure.
Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, supporting them with tickets, project work, documentation, and escalations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of supervisory/management experience leading technical teams in higher education or a large, complex organization.
5+ years of experience managing enterprise infrastructure, operating systems, or software systems management platforms.
Proven ability to coach and develop staff, including student apprenticeships, internships, or project-based learning programs.
Experience with Windows, Linux, and Apple operating systems and their lifecycle management.
Demonstrated ability to manage software deployment, patch management, and application support processes.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with enterprise software management tools, cloud-based platforms, and IT Service Management (ITSM) systems.
Familiarity with IT governance, policy alignment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Industry certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft, AWS, or other relevant credentials.
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
